remember when the fun was in the figuring out?

Tech used to be fun because you had to figure it out. You'd lose whole evenings to a broken config, a forum thread from 2009, or a weird bug that made no sense until suddenly it did. The answer was the reward, but the hours of digging were the good part.

AI takes a lot of that away. Ask, get an answer, move on. It's faster, and some of the magic of finding things out yourself is gone.

What it gives back is range. LLMs open a door to projects I'd never have had the time or knowledge to attempt. The fun has moved from figuring out how to figuring out what's possible.
